Talented stars The Weeknd (Abel Makkonen Tesfaye) and Selena Gomez have split.
Reports earlier today confirmed that the couple who had been dating for 10 months have decided to end their relationship.
“It was more of a mutual break up. They were distant because of work,” an insider shared with E! News.
“It didn’t end in a bad way. The relationship was basically over before Justin Bieber and Selena hung out”.
“Abel is not upset about Selena and Justin hanging out,” the source continued. “Their relationship was over before they were hanging out. Abel is not dwelling on anything.”
Apparently, the split was a long time coming.
“It’s been hard for them to come to the realisation that this is the direction things were heading, but it’s been hard for months,” the source added.
Even though the source did say that Abel was not bothered about Selena hanging out with her ex, it can not be a coincidence that the story broke just days after they were spotted together, or can it?.
Abel came into limelight when he posted some songs under alias ‘The Weeknd’, on Youtube, in 2010.
That would be followed by an album in 2013 called ‘Kiss Land’, and in 2016, he released his 3rd album ‘Starboy’
The ‘Starboy’ singer and his now ex-girlfriend have not commented publicly on the breakup.
