The Governor of the state, Oluwararotimi Akeredolu during the opening of the summit on Thursday, made this clear when he stated that any decision made at the summit by the government and the stakeholders would be followed through at the end of the day.

According to the mutual agreement in the communique which was handed to the media by the  Summit Media and Publicity chairman, Mr Kunle Adebayo;  both the government and the stakeholders came to the conclusion that Government should concern themselves more on funding the primary education sector of the educational system while the parents should be laced with the responsibility of caring for their wards from the secondary level to the tertiary level.

The summit also came to another conclusion that automated promotions that have been over time introduced in the educational system should be scrapped, and that the joint SSS 2 examinations should as of now be implemented, emphasizing on the need to re-introduce it to the qualified students for their Senior School Certificate Examinations.

He, however, made it clear that things which involve reconstructing and innovation of delipidated school structures are not the responsibility of the government alone while enjoining the philanthropist, old school association bodies, PTA and Corporate organizations to join hands to help them in the projects.

The communique read: ‘That the issue of the Educational Funding is too important to be left in the hands of the government alone if we must achieve functionality in education. It must be the business of all stakeholders’.
